The Nakshaa Story

Where Art Has No Boundaries.

Every piece of fabric is a canvas. Every canvas can tell more than one story.

The Nakshaa Philosophy

Born From a Love for Indian Art.

Nakshaa — crafted with love by Rijula — was born from a love for Indian art, textiles and the beauty of things created by hand. But we believe that art should never be confined: not to a particular fabric, a particular silhouette, or even a particular way of dressing.

We take inspiration from the richness of Indian craftsmanship — hand-block printing, batik, eco-printing, hand painting, natural dyes and traditional textile techniques — and reinterpret them through a contemporary lens.

Because we believe that beautiful art deserves more than one life.
Our Craft Vocabulary

The Techniques We Work In

Six living traditions, held with care and carried into a contemporary language of dressing.

approval
01 • Hand-Block Printing

Carved in Teak, Pressed by Hand

Hand-carved wooden blocks laid down motif by motif, each repeat holding the gentle shift of a human hand.

02 • Batik

Wax, Resist, Reveal

Molten wax guards the cloth while dye travels around it, leaving behind the fine veined crackle only batik can give.

eco
03 • Eco-Printing

Leaves That Leave Their Mark

Real leaves, petals and bark bundled against fabric and steamed, printing their own silhouettes directly onto the weave.

brush
04 • Hand Painting

Brushwork on Cloth

Motifs drawn freehand, stroke by stroke, so no two pieces ever resolve in quite the same way.

palette
05 • Natural Dyes

Colour From the Earth

Madder, indigo, pomegranate rind and mineral earths — pigments that deepen gracefully instead of fading flat.

Inherited Know-How

Handloom weaving, surface detailing and finishing methods passed down through generations of artisan families.

One Artwork, Many Lives

The Same Language, Many Silhouettes.

A saree may become a canvas for colour and art.

Nine yards of uninterrupted surface — the widest canvas we work on, and often where an artwork begins.

01 / 06 ways to wear one artwork

At Nakshaa, we consciously explore ways of creating versatile pieces that can be worn, styled and reimagined in different ways. A thoughtfully designed textile can become more than one outfit, letting you enjoy the artwork differently each time while making more mindful use of the fabric.

Beauty With Intention

Sustainability Isn't About Compromising on Beauty.

It is about creating beauty with intention — celebrating the artisan's craft, respecting the fabric, reducing unnecessary wastage, and making pieces that stay relevant well beyond a single occasion.

01

The Artisan's Craft

Skills carried through families, paid for fairly and credited openly — the people behind the cloth are the point, not a footnote.

02

Respect for the Fabric

Cloth chosen for how it ages, drapes and breathes, then cut with the grain and the hand that made it in mind.

03

Less Unnecessary Waste

Patterns planned so offcuts become scarves, borders and trims instead of discard — small-batch, never surplus.

04

Beyond One Occasion

Pieces designed to be restyled season after season, so the artwork keeps earning its place in your wardrobe.

A Note From the Studio

Our Little Experiment in Art and Dressing.

Nakshaa is our small experiment in bringing together art, craftsmanship, colour and contemporary dressing — where a traditional technique can find a modern expression, and where one piece of art can travel across many silhouettes.

Nothing here arrives in a hurry. A block is carved, a dye vat is watched, a brush is steadied. What reaches you carries all of that — including the gentle irregularities that prove human hands brought every thread to life.
